Happy New Year 2013
Happy new year from the Darjean home. I havent blogged since August, yikes! Its been a little bit busy around here. Everyone is growing so fast right before my eyes. Staying home with my kids is wonderful because I get a front seat to everything. So we dont have much money, I doubt they will care that we didnt drive new cars, have a big home, have cable tv, go on vacations, etcc when they look back on their lives, and neither will I. Eric and I keep saying, "When did we have FOUR kids?" I still feel like a kid sometimes :)
Levi, our baby is doing so well. He is still so small! But boy is he determined. He sat up on his own at 5 months (just like everyone else in this family!) Now if he walks between 10-11 months he will be right on track. Currently the little toot is crawling all over the place and finding every speck of dirt to eat! He just turned 8 months old a few days ago. I remember when he was 6 months old wandering if he would even crawl soon because he wasnt even rolling over. and then boom in like the next week he started scooting around, rolling around and it was downhill from there! He is "talking" alot. All he says is dadadadada. but he has said things that sound like words, flukes of course, but he said "hi", "ok", and nanananana! I have conversations with him and he talks back to me. It helps that he has 3 siblings, he desperately wants to keep up with them.
Since before Christmas we have been laying low and mostly at home due to sickness, us and staying away from those with it. Not much else is going on. Baseball has started up again for Eric so busy days are ahead. Cant wait til Spring so we can get out and actually watch his teams play. Eric is about to launch his website. But in the mean time, if you need baseball lessons (hitting, pitching, fielding, etcc) or know someone who does, send them our way.
Lastly, our family word for the new year is, Authentic. We want to be more intentional about loving others, more intentional about sharing Christ, and live authentic lives. Cant wait to see what the Lord has in store for us in 2013!

A Day in the Life......
I decided to blog today. I thought it might be fun to blog about my day today. It wasnt a special day, just a normal Monday around here. So if you've ever wandered what a stay at home mum of 4 does all day, here you go:
4:15 a.m.- Abigail comes in my room saying she had a bad dream, I tell her its ok, and walk her back to her room
5:30 a.m- Wake up because Levi is fussing and ready to be changed and fed
6:15 a..m- Levi is finished nursing, changed and I lay him back down to sleep and I lay down to try and sleep a little bit more
6:45 a.m.- Hannah comes in, in tears saying there is a bad guy in her room (vivid dream I guess), Im so tired at this point I just tell her to hop in bed with me
7:30 a.m.- Abigail and Joshua come in my room saying they are hungry for breakfast. I get up to do so.
After fixing them breakfast I get Hannah's folders and backpack ready for school and make her lunch.
8:15 a.m.- Hannah gets up and I get her some breakfast, after she finishes eating, I get her dressed for school while the other two watch Curious George and the baby is still sleeping (woo-hoo!)
8:45 a.m. I begin to sweep and mop the kitchen, and vacuum the living room rug!
9:15 a.m.- Daddy walks comes in the door from an all-night shift, barely able to kiss us all good morning before he passes out on the couch. (He usually doesnt get home til lunch time, but got off early today)
I then finish up cleaning, sweeping and mopping while the kids play quietly.
10:00 a.m.- carpool arrives to pick up Hannah for school (her school doesnt start til 10:30 a.m)
I also now throw in a load in the laundry and empty the dryer from the day before, thinking I will get it folded.........nope! baby wakes up hungry! only problem? I realise we have 30 minutes to make it to Mansfield for Abbie's dentist appointment.
10:20 a.m.- I tell Abbie and Josh to put on some clothes and shoes and I quickly throw some veggies, fruit, yoghurt and ice in the vitamix and blend my breakfast (notice I havent eaten at all yet). Throw baby in the carseat (unfed) and hope the car ride will keep him happy a bit longer and that I can find a place to nurse while we wait for Abbie at the dentist. Insert meltdown by Joshua at the door because he doesnt like the shoes I made him wear. Also, in the process I dropped my smoothie cup, thankfully it had a lid but smoothie still went everywhere! I wanted to cry and scream at the same time!
11:05 a.m.- arrive at dentist and they get her back immediately. I beg her to be a big girl and go on her own for her cleaning (like she does every time), but today she wants me with me. So I get Joshua and the baby and we follow sister back to watch her get her teeth cleaned and examined. Baby is crying now, so I take him out of the carseat and rock him!
11:50 a.m.- we load up to leave Dentist and I debate whether I should nurse, over hungry baby or just make it home and do it there. I chose to go home. BAD choice.
12:05 p.m.- almost home when my chiropractor calls to make sure we are still coming in at 12:45 p.m. YIKES! I rush home to wake up Eric, grab some snacks and get right back in the car to head to our chiropractor in Ft. Worth!!!!
12:40 p.m.- we arrive at chiropractor and I nurse baby on one side :)
12:50 p.m.- I rush in, and get my adjustment and Levi get his adjustment. Then Eric goes back for his treatment. The other two will have to wait til Wednesday!
1:10 p.m. - We leave Chiropractor and all the kids fall asleep on the way home (Eric does too). When we get home all but Abigail stay asleep, so I fix her some lunch, finish my smoothie from the morning and boil some eggs to eat also :)
1:20 p.m. baby wakes up screaming, from hunger, Im sure, so I sit, for the first time all day and just nurse him til he is satisfied. (40 minutes!) All the while Abigail is having quiet time cause Joshua is still asleep!
2:10 p.m. I put baby down and I get back to laundry, not so much folding but putting a new load in thinking I will just have a folding party if baby stays asleep.
3:15 p.m. I call Abigail's gymnastics to confirm her spot for the year, they say she is a "go" but has to be at class by 4 p.m. AAAH! I dress Abbie for gymnastics, pack her bag and water, make sure diaper bag is properly stocked, wake up Joshua, dress him, make him go potty and tell Eric (Who is still sleeping) that we are leaving!
3:40 p.m.- Call carpool friend who is bringing Hannah home to tell her I wont be there when she gets home but Eric can let Hannah in, and instructed Hannah to play quietly til we get home and let daddy rest.
3:50 p.m.- got to gynastics early and had to wait in the heat for 10 minutes til she opened the doors! not happy!
4:00 p.m.- class starts, the boys and i sit and watch abbie in her element! An hour long class though, when all I want to do is take a nap!
5:00- class is over but I have to stay and take care of some paperwork.
5:20 p.m.- Finally out of there and headed home with three tired, hot and hungry kids.
5:30 p.m.- We get home and immediately start making dinner. in between chopping and satueeing, and stirring, I nurse Levi! and give the kids a small snack since they are hungry (josh never really ate lunch!)
6:15- Eric finally wakes up, just as dinner is ready and Levi is screaming because I put him down to finish up and get the food served onto plates so it can cool down.
6:30 p.m.- We sit down to eat as a family, and I get to enjoy my people and hear about Hannah's day at school, daddy's night at work and abbie's new gymnastics friends :) Levi cries so I hold him and eat with one hand.
7:05 p.m.- I clean up dinner dishes (kids help), and we wipe down table and clean the kitchen. Then then Abbie and Josh get some screen time (they choose Curious George), and Hannah and I are off to do homework with Levi too, of course.
7:45 p.m.- finished with homework and now Im getting the kids ready for bed, while Eric gets ready for work.
8:15 p.m. Been repeating myself over and over and no one is obeying, and Im done! Eric steps in and we are ready to settle down and have family devotions.
8:45 p.m.- lights out for the kiddoes(except for Levi)
Levi and I head to my room, and I do half of a workout.
9:15 p.m. attempt number one to put the baby down, he isnt having it. So I decide to take him in my shower with me (which happens most days). we have a nice relaxing warm shower!
9:30 p.m. forgot to mention that Eric left during that time :(
Clean mommy and clean Levi crawl into bed and we snuggle and he nurses on and off for a bit.
10:00 p.m.- respond to emails, fb messages, and write some emails
Its 11:30 now and I am writing this blog, my eyes are heavy, I still want to read a little of my bible study and pray, so the days is not quite over. I better get off the computer because who knows what the night will hold.
And that's my day. Tomorrow will be similar, but less apointments, but I drive carpool tomorrow to and from school so add that to the mix, plus a trip the the grocery store, and Abbie has pre-k tomorrow which ends at 2:30 then I have to drive 20 minutes away to pick up the kids from school, all with my poor boys in the car desperately needing naps!
Thats the job of a mother. Ive had several jobs in my life, and by far this is the best one. So tonite, I am thanking the Lord for all my blessings and for the ability to stay home and raise my treasures. I think everyone should do a "day in the life" post, I would enjoy seeing a glimpse into your days!

Cousins! Our Minnesota family came to visit for 7 days! Our home was full and we were loving every minute of it. The kids had a blast with their cousin besties :)
Definitely cousin besties. My firstborn and my brother, Abasa's firstborn. Im very close to my brother so this picture is truly special.
Me and my man! First date since baby number 4 came along and rocked our world :) Isnt he good lookin'? Yup, all mine!
Silly friends :) This was our last dinner with our dear friends who have now moved and left us sad and lonely! (ahem, ahem). We so miss them already.
Same night. These two men are seriously two of the greatest there are out there. Dont let the picture fool you, you do NOT want to get caught in a theology discussion with these two, they will blow you away! They sure do love them some Jesus and we love them for it.

Guess what?
And finally, he is here. Levi Emmanuel made his grand entrance into the world on Friday, May 11th. So this mother's day weekend, I am blessed, times FOUR :) My 29 year old body took a beating this time around though. It was rough and I am still in pain. Having natural childbirth is still my number one choice. This time it was different, I actually got to mentally be in the game.I remember feeling the ring of fire, and praying for God to give me strength to give that one last big push despite the fact that I was in so much pain so extremely exhausted! It happend and I cant describe the feeling of feeling your child burst out of you! I have felt it before but for some reason this time it was different. I immediately held him all yucky and all and he WIDE awake and held his head up and looked at me! Both Eric and my midwife were so incredibly wonderful and helpful and I am thankful for the team that God gave me to help me get through it. We are home now. I forgot how completely exhausting these first few months are. I forgot how challenging breastfeeding can be. But I am enjoying it all and loving my tiny, 5 pound little dude and that oh so yummy baby smell :)
